During this process we noticed a lack of real estate and tech investing across the starting rosters. Now we aren’t going to get these maps perfect the first time, but what we do believe is that the “unwritten rule”, conservative nature of baseball, seems to translate to investing decisions (or lack thereof) for players outside of the diamond. Taking big swings towards tech startups and timing the real estate market are hard to focus on if you have a game at least 162 days out of the year.
That’s a lot and we think it affects the simplicity of players’ business portfolios.
